A unique back to keep an eye on this year in the state of Ohio is Brock Bolen from Germantown Valley View. Bolen is a big back at 6-0, 230 pounds, and at those measurements, you might think he is destined for fullback. But he hopes to be recruited as a running back and has some outstanding credentials to back it up as he put up over 2200 yards and 43 TDs last year.
We caught up with Bolen's father lately, who filled us in with the latest on Brock's recruitment. It turns out Brock is receiving plenty of attention. Take a look:
- He has offers so far in writing from Northwestern, Louisville, Ohio U, and Western Kentucky.
- He is getting mail twice a week from Ohio State, and he was previously getting hand-written letters from Coach Tressel.
- He is also getting hand-written letters from Boston College and Notre Dame.
- Letters have been coming from Stanford, Indiana, Kentucky, and Clemson. Two letters a week have been coming from Colorado, Wisconsin, South Carolina, and Nebraska, and Iowa is averaging three letters a week.
Some schools are still recruiting Brock as a fullback; among those are Michigan and Penn State. Ohio State is recruiting him as a running back, and they would like him to come in for camp this year. Brock was one of the many players in attendance at OSU's junior day.
Keep an eye on this recruit. It sounds like he has the attention of many of the nation's top programs, and the attention is likely to increase as the year progresses.
