Brandon Armstrong from Clayton Northmont ranks right up there with Xenia's Ben Person as being a top lineman in Southwest Ohio this year. Armstrong stands at 6-7, 240 and has a top 40 time of 5.08. He has been getting talked to a lot by Ohio State as well as getting letters from two schools that are becoming more and more active in Ohio -- Colorado and Iowa.
So far, Brandon has been to junior days at Ohio State and Kent State. He's thinking about camping at Michigan State and Ohio State and maybe one of the MAC schools (he hasn't decided which). He has no offers yet.
If you follow Ohio football recruiting closely, you probably know Brandon as an offensive lineman. In college though, that might not be the case.
"Ohio State likes me as a defensive end," he said. "I would to love to play defensive end. I never played there in high school. I have not played there since middle school."
OSU is only #2 on Brandon's list right now though.
"Michigan is my favorite, but they haven't been showing a lot of interest," he said. "They have been sending a little bit of mail. My family is all Buckeye fans and they are my second favorite. Boston College and Colorado are the other two I really like."
Brandon has played basketball in years past, but not this year.
"I didn't play basketball this year to concentrate on weight lifting," he said. "I increased my bench by 45 pounds already."
Brandon also talked about his favorite players, and for an offensive lineman, he has some unique choices. "Jerry Rice is my all-time favorite player," he said, "but my favorite player right now is Oliver Gibson. He started talking to us during a game."
Brandon has a 2.9 GPA and is taking the test April 12th.
