Watkins Visits Michigan, Notre Dame Next

Galion (Ohio) junior wide receiver-defensive back Dareian Watkins talks about his trip to Michigan on Saturday and his change in visit plans for this weekend.

Galion High's versatile junior Dareian Watkins took his first visit to Michigan on Saturday and saw the Wolverines pull out a narrow overtime victory over Northwestern.

"That was the best game I've seen this year," he said. "The Big House was amazing and the Michigan fans are awesome."

Watkins, a 6'1, 190-lb prospect who has played quarterback, wide receiver, defensive back, and even linebacker, says he did not get to speak with the staff during his visit.

"The coaches didn't say anything. They spent their time with [Leon] McQuay, [Shane] Morris and [Bryan] Mone."

Currently with several offers, including Illinois, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Indiana, Cincinnati, Purdue, and others, he has plans for a couple more visits coming up. This weekend was supposed to be a return trip to Wisconsin, but that has changed.

"We are rescheduling our visit to Wisconsin and visiting Notre Dame this weekend instead," he reported, adding, "After speaking with Coach Azzanni, I agree that it would be better to attend a Bowl practice and spend the entire day in Madison. It's a nine hour drive and we need to make the most of it."

Galion finished the year 9-2.
