Future Cowboys: Week 2

Oklahoma State has 17 players who have given verbal commitments for the Class of 2011. As we have done for the past several years, GoPokes.com will follow those 17 players during the course of their 2010 football seasons. Here are the results of those future Cowboys for this past week.

Guyer High School (Denton, Texas)
This week's game: Guyer went toe-to-toe with Class 5A power Cedar Hill on Labor Day (Monday) before suffering a 42-41 overtime loss in the Kirk Herbstreit Classic at Cowboys Stadium.

MICHAEL BOWIE, OL (6-5, 315)
Navarro College (Corsicana, Texas)
This week's game: Navarro, 1-1, has a week off before traveling to Tyler Junior College on Sept. 18.

TRAVIS CROSS, OL (6-5, 270)
West High School (Plano, Texas)
This week's game: Cross and his offensive line teammates did the job as Plano West played smashmouth football in rolling to an impressive 21-7 victory over South Garland on Friday night.

DEVIN DAVIS, OL (6-5, 250)
Nacogdoches High School (Nacogdoches, Texas)
This week's game: Nacogdoches High School suffered its 17th consecutive loss to rival Lufkin, 72-20, on Friday night in the 93rd meeting between the two schools.

DAVID GLIDDEN, WR (5-11, 180)
Mustang High School (Mustang, Okla.)
This week's game: Glidden's 92-yard interception return for a touchdown helped clinch Mustang's 27-14 victory over Putnam City North on Friday night.

East High School (Plano, Texas)
This week's game: Plano East scored three touchdowns in the final minute of play to rally from a seven-point deficit for a 36-24 victory over Keller on Friday night.

MIKEATAVIUS JONES, CB (5-11, 170)
North Shore High School (Galena Park, Texas)
This week's game: North Shore defeated Klein Oak 34-15 on Friday night to improve to 2-1.

ASHAAD MABRY, DT (6-3, 290)
MacArthur High School (San Antonio, Texas)
This week's game: MacArthur had lost six consecutive games to Smithson Valley before Friday night's showdown, and the Brahmas improved their season record to 3-0 with a 33-20 victory.

This week's game: Richland, 2-0, was scheduled to play Euless Trinity on Saturday.

This week's game: Jones County suffered a 26-24 loss to Coahoma on Thursday night.

DESMOND ROLAND, WR (6-2, 190)
Lake Highlands High School (Dallas, Texas)
This week's game: Roland finished with 110 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries but Lake Highlands suffered a 38-28 loss to Garland on Friday night. Lake Highlands is now 1-2.

QUENTIN SARGENT, CB (5-11, 175)
Bowie High School (Arlington, Texas)
This week's game: Arlington Bowie, 1-1, was scheduled to play Dallas Skyline on Saturday.

DeMARCUS SHEROD, LB (6-2, 220)
Columbia High School (Decatur, Ga.)
This week's game: Columbia improved to 2-1 on the season with Friday night's 34-19 victory over Fairburn Hughes.

HERSCHEL SIMS, RB (5-9, 190)
Abilene High School (Abilene, Texas)
This week's game: Sims did not play because of a shoulder injury suffered in last week's game and Abilene saw its 17-game winning streak snapped by Cocoa (Fla.), 24-21, in the Texas vs. Florida High School Football Showcase.

J.W. WALSH, QB (6-2, 190)
Guyer High School (Denton, Texas)
Walsh put on a show in a Labor Day classic televised by Fox Sports Southwest. A week after throwing for a career-best 340 yards, the quarterback showed why he's a dual threat by rushing for 184 yards and five touchdowns on 21 carries as Guyer went toe-to-toe with Class 5A power Cedar Hill before suffering a 42-41 overtime loss in the Kirk Herbstreit Classic at Cowboys Stadium. He also completed 8 of 16 passes for 135 yards, including a 61-yard touchdown.
