Future Cowboys: Week 4

Oklahoma State has 17 players who have given verbal commitments for the Class of 2011. As we have done for the past several years, GoPokes.com will follow those 17 players during the course of their 2010 football seasons. Here are the results of those future Cowboys for this past week.

JIMMY BEAN, defensive end (6-5, 220)
Guyer High School (Denton, Texas)
This week's game: Bean recorded one sack and the Guyer defense was outstanding in allowing only 178 total yards in Friday night's 50-7 victory over Northwest in the District 7-5A opener.

MICHAEL BOWIE, OL (6-5, 315)
Navarro College (Corsicana, Texas)
This week's game: Navarro, ranked No. 8 in the NJCAA poll, defeated Kilgore 45-10 on Saturday to improve to 3-1.

TRAVIS CROSS, OL (6-5, 270)
West High School (Plano, Texas)
This week's game: Cross and the other Plano West offensive linemen did their jobs Friday night as the Wolves rushed for 350 yards on just 40 carries (an average of 8.75 yards) and they finished with 561 total yards but three fumbles inside the 5-yard line were costly as Lewisville won 55-49 in the District 8-5A opener for both teams.

DEVIN DAVIS, OL (6-5, 250)
Nacogdoches High School (Nacogdoches, Texas)
This week's game: Nacogdoches opened District 14-4A play Friday night with a 35-10 victory over Longview Pine Tree.

DAVID GLIDDEN, WR (5-11, 180)
Mustang High School (Mustang, Okla.)
This week's game: Glidden caught a 35-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter but it wasn't enough as Lawton rallied in the second half for a 30-29 victory Friday night.

JOHNNY HAYNES, WR (5-10, 175)
MacArthur High School (Irving, Texas)
This week's game: Haynes ran for 112 yards and a pair of second-half touchdowns as Irving MacArthur took control in the second half en route to a 29-3 victory over crosstown rival Irving High on Friday night. Haynes scored on runs of 33 and 4 yards in the second half, and also caught three passes for 35 yards.

LYNDELL JOHNSON, S (6-3, 190)
East High School (Plano, Texas)
This week's game: Plano East saw its record drop to 2-2 with Friday night's 31-17 loss to Flower Mound Marcus.

MIKEATAVIUS JONES, CB (5-11, 170)
North Shore High School (Galena Park, Texas)
This week's game: North Shore defeated Pasadena Memorial 42-7 for its fourth consecutive victory. The Mustangs improve to 4-1 after its season-opening loss to Katy.

ASHAAD MABRY, DT (6-3, 290)
MacArthur High School (San Antonio, Texas)
This week's game: San Antonio MacArthur defeated San Antonio Johnson 34-23 in the District 26-5A opener on Saturday night.

ISAAC MASELERA, S (6-0, 185)
Glenpool High School (Glenpool, Okla.)
This week's game: Glenpool won its District 4A-2 opener with ease Friday night, rolling to a 48-23 victory over McLoud.

NICO ORNELAS, LB (6-3, 190)
Richland Hills High School (Richland Hills, Texas)
This week's game: Richland, 3-1, has a bye week before returning to action Thursday night against Irving.

RYAN ROBINSON, DE (6-4, 270)
Jones County Junior College (Ellisville, Miss.)
This week's game: Jones County lost its third game of the season Thursday night as 15th-ranked Copiah-Lincoln won 20-14.
Next scheduled game: Thursday, Sept. 30, at Southwest.

DESMOND ROLAND, WR (6-2, 190) Lake Highlands High School (Dallas, Texas) This week's game: Roland rushed for 152 yards and five touchdowns on just 12 carries as Lake Highlands won its District 9-5A opener by the score of 56-7 over Samuell on Thursday night. Roland had scoring runs of 50, 3, 14, 10 and 35 yards, all in the first half, as Lake Highlands improved to 2-2 overall.

QUENTIN SARGENT, CB (5-11, 175)
Bowie High School (Arlington, Texas)
This week's game: Arlington Bowie lost 38-14 to Arlington Martin in the District 4-5A opener for both teams Friday night.

DeMARCUS SHEROD, LB (6-2, 220)
Columbia High School (Decatur, Ga.)
This week's game: Columbia suffered its first loss since the first week of the season when Ellenwood Cedar Grove captured a 28-18 victory Friday night. Columbia is now 3-2 midway through the season.

HERSCHEL SIMS, RB (5-9, 190)
Abilene High School (Abilene, Texas)
This week's game: Sims tied a 51-year-old school record with a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, and he also caught a 15-yard scoring pass with 16 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to force overtime, but Longview used a trick play to score on a two-point conversion in overtime to capture a 32-31 victory on Friday night. Sims was held to a season-low 15 yards on nine carries. His 99-yard kickoff return midway through the first quarter tied the school record set by David Winkles in 1959.

This week's game: Walsh completed 19 of 26 passes for 223 yards and a touchdown as Guyer rolled to an easy 50-7 victory over Northwest in the District 7-5A opener on Friday night.
