Future Cowboys: Week 5

Oklahoma State has 17 players who have given verbal commitments for the Class of 2011. As we have done for the past several years, GoPokes.com will follow those 17 players during the course of their 2010 football seasons. Here are the results of those future Cowboys for this past week.

JIMMY BEAN, defensive end (6-5, 220)
Guyer High School (Denton, Texas)
This week's game: Bean and the Guyer defense held Coppell running back Cam McDaniel (625 rushing yards in the first four games) to a season-low 67 yards on 22 carries but it wasn't enough as No. 8-ranked Class 5A Coppell defeated Guyer 31-14 on Friday night.

MICHAEL BOWIE, OL (6-5, 315)
Navarro College (Corsicana, Texas)
This week's game: In a matchup of top 10 teams, No. 8 Navarro made a goal-line stand in the game's last minute to preserve a 9-3 victory over seventh-ranked Blinn on Saturday.

TRAVIS CROSS, OL (6-5, 270)
West High School (Plano, Texas)
This week's game: Plano West suffered its second loss in as many weeks when crosstown rival Plano East (and future OSU teammate Lyndell Johnson) won 35-14 on Friday night. Plano West is now 3-2 at the midway point of the season.

DEVIN DAVIS, OL (6-5, 250)
Nacogdoches High School (Nacogdoches, Texas)
This week's game: Nacogdoches committed five turnovers and they proved to be costly as John Tyler High won 42-12 on Friday night. Nacogdoches falls to 2-3 with the loss.

DAVID GLIDDEN, WR (5-11, 180)
Mustang High School (Mustang, Okla.)
This week's game: Glidden caught 10 passes for 228 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown reception, as Mustang rolled to an easy 56-34 victory over Edmond North on Friday night.

JOHNNY HAYNES, WR (5-10, 175)
MacArthur High School (Irving, Texas)
This week's game: Haynes rushed for a team-high 61 yards and also caught a pass for 14 yards but Colleyville Heritage coasted to a 55-23 victory over Irving MacArthur on Friday night.

LYNDELL JOHNSON, S (6-3, 190)
East High School (Plano, Texas)
This week's game: Plano East improved to 3-2 with Friday night's 35-14 victory over Plano West (and future OSU teammate Travis Cross).

ASHAAD MABRY, DT (6-3, 290)
MacArthur High School (San Antonio, Texas)
This week's game: The MacArthur Brahmas, ranked No. 1 in Class 5A, suffered their first loss of the season Friday night at San Antonio Roosevelt won 35-34 in overtime.

ISAAC MASELERA, S (6-0, 185)
Glenpool High School (Glenpool, Okla.)
This week's game: Glenpool defeated Cushing 34-6 on Friday night to improve to 4-1.

NICO ORNELAS, LB (6-3, 190)
Richland Hills High School (Richland Hills, Texas)
This week's game: Ornelas picked up a blocked punt and returned in one yard for a touchdown in the first quarter as Richland improved to 4-1 with Friday night's 31-14 victory over winless Irving.

RYAN ROBINSON, DE (6-4, 270)
Jones County Junior College (Ellisville, Miss.)
This week's game: Jones County ended a three-game losing streak with a 24-6 victory over Holmes on Thursday night.

DESMOND ROLAND, WR (6-2, 190) Lake Highlands High School (Dallas, Texas) This week's game: Roland rushed for 146 yards and three touchdowns to lead Lake Highlands to a homecoming victory over Dallas W.T. White by the score of 45-14 on Friday night. Roland scored on runs of 19, 1 and 2 yards as Lake Highlands improved to 3-2.

QUENTIN SARGENT, CB (5-11, 175)
Bowie High School (Arlington, Texas)
This week's game: Arlington Bowie won it second game of the season with a 49-34 victory over Arlington Sam Houston on Friday night.

DeMARCUS SHEROD, LB (6-2, 220)
Columbia High School (Decatur, Ga.)
This week's game: Columbia captured a 25-21 victory over Stone Mountain on Friday night.

HERSCHEL SIMS, RB (5-9, 190)
Abilene High School (Abilene, Texas)
This week's game: Sims has rushed for 298 yards and two touchdowns while playing in four of Abilene's five games entering this week's bye week. The defending Class 5A Division II state champions are 3-2 this season – suffering a 24-21 loss to Cocoa (Fla.) in a game that Sims did not play because of a shoulder injury and a 32-31 overtime loss to Longview on a missed extra-point kick – after going 25-1 the past two seasons.

J.W. WALSH, QB (6-2, 190)
Guyer High School (Denton, Texas)
This week's game: Playing without leading receiver Quint Gardener (knee injury), Walsh completed 12 of 20 passes for 119 yards and also had 106 rushing yards on 11 carries, including a 27-yard scoring, run but it wasn't enough as No. 8-ranked Class 5A Coppell defeated Guyer 31-14 on Friday night.
