Future Cowboys: Week 7

Check out what future Oklahoma State players David Glidden, Johnny Haynes and Desmond Roland did in leading their teams to victories on Friday night. Oklahoma State has 18 players who have given verbal commitments for the Class of 2011, and here are the results of those future Cowboys from their games this past weekend.

JIMMY BEAN, defensive end (6-5, 220)
Guyer High School (Denton, Texas)
This week's game: Guyer had little trouble against winless Saginaw as the Wildcats scored 49 points in the first half en route to a 52-14 victory Friday night.

MICHAEL BOWIE, OL (6-5, 315)
Navarro College (Corsicana, Texas)
This week's game: Navarro showed there is a good reason it is ranked fifth in the nation with a 58-13 victory over 16th-ranked Cisco (Texas) on Saturday. The Bulldogs improved to 6-1 and secured home field advantage throughout the SWJCFC playoffs with the win and Blinn's victory over Trinity Valley.

West High School (Plano, Texas)
This week's game: Plano West lost 38-28 to Allen on Friday night for its fourth loss in a row.

DEVIN DAVIS, OL (6-5, 250)

This week's game: Blinn and Elkins, the latest Cowboy commitment, defeated Trinity Valley on Saturday to improve to 5-2 overall.

Mustang High School (Mustang, Okla.)
This week's game: Glidden caught three touchdowns passes – of 9, 58 and 10 yards – and returned the game's opening kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown as Mustang won 59-41 over Putnam City on Friday night.

JOHNNY HAYNES, WR (5-10, 175)
MacArthur High School (Irving, Texas)
This week's game: Haynes rushed for 263 yards and five touchdowns on 20 carries as Irving MacArthur defeated Haltom 42-20 on Friday night. The OSU commit scored on runs of 22 and 68 yards in the first half, and added TD of 6, 6 and 3 yards in the second half. He also caught a pass for 13 yards as MacArthur improved to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in district play.

LYNDELL JOHNSON, S (6-3, 190)
East High School (Plano, Texas)
This week's game: Plano East fell behind 7-0 but scored 21 consecutive points en route to a 38-21 victory over Hebron on Friday night.

MIKEATAVIUS JONES, CB (5-11, 170)
North Shore High School (Galena Park, Texas)
This week's game: North Shore scored 28 points in the third quarter Friday night to pull away for a 35-12 victory over Beaumont West Brook.

ASHAAD MABRY, DT (6-3, 290)
MacArthur High School (San Antonio, Texas)
This week's game: MacArthur defeated crosstown rival San Antonio Reagan 42-17 on Saturday in a key District 26-5A game.

This week's game: Richland suffered a tough 27-24 loss to L.D. Bell on Friday night, and saw its record drop to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in District 6-5A.

RYAN ROBINSON, DE (6-4, 270)
Jones County Junior College (Ellisville, Miss.)
This week's game: Jones County saw its record drop to 2-5 with a 24-14 loss to East Central Community College on Thursday night.

DESMOND ROLAND, WR (6-2, 190) Lake Highlands High School (Dallas, Texas) This week's game: Roland was a workhorse for Lake Highlands as he accounted for 286 total yards (276 rushing on 33 carries and a 10-yard pass reception) and four touchdowns in Friday night's 27-21 victory over Richardson Berkner. Roland had scoring runs of 7, 18, 9 and 1 yards as Lake Highlands improved to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in District 9-5A.

QUENTIN SARGENT, CB (5-11, 175)
Bowie High School (Arlington, Texas)
This week's game: Arlington Bowie rallied for the game-winning touchdown with less than four minute to play in Friday night's 36-32 victory over Arlington Lamar.

DeMARCUS SHEROD, LB (6-2, 220)
Columbia High School (Decatur, Ga.)
This week's game: Columbia improved to 5-2 overall with a 33-0 victory over crosstown rival Decatur Towers.

HERSCHEL SIMS, RB (5-9, 190)
Abilene High School (Abilene, Texas)
This week's game: Sims only played in the first half but still rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown on eight carries as Abilene routed Midland Lee 77-21 in a nationally televised game on ESPN2 Thursday night.

J.W. WALSH, QB (6-2, 190)
Guyer High School (Denton, Texas)
This week's game: Walsh completed 12 of 19 passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns – all in the first half – as Denton rolled to a 52-14 victory over winless Saginaw on Friday night. Walsh was pulled from the game late in the first half with the Wildcats up 49-0, and did not play the remainder of the contest.
