Williams Visits Mississippi; OSU Is Next

The pursuit of defensive tackles continues for Oklahoma State and Coffeyville (Kan.) Community College standout Sylvester Williams remains in the running.

The 6-3, 315-pound Williams, who is originally out of Jefferson City, Mo., recently earned first team All-Jayhawk Conference honors as he finished the season with 49 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, four blocked kicks, and two sacks. He also forced a fumble.

Williams was on the road last weekend making his thrid official visit, this one to Ole Miss.

"It went real good," said Williams of the trip to Ole Miss. "I enjoyed it and I really enjoyed being around the coaches and the players. It stood out that they have a lot of nice facilities.

"I also felt some of the coaches really stood out like Coach (Terry) Price (DL), Coach (James) Shibest (special teams), and the head coach, Coach (Houston) Nutt. Now I'm going to Oklahoma State next, this weekend."

Williams has already visited North Carolina and Southern Cal. We had not checked in with him since his visit to USC.

"It went pretty good," he said. "I was there for the game with Notre Dame that they lost. It rained a lot that weekend. They have a lot of tradition there."

Williams has said that Ole Miss and Oklahoma State were the schools that were recruiting him the longest and the hardest. He has not said what his timetable is but this will be his fourth official visit this weekend when he goes to Stillwater.
