Congratulations To Dan, Justin and Kendall

Just as the 10-2 regular season was a step toward Oklahoma State taking a spot among the elite programs in college football, Thursday night was another step in that direction. With three finalists, and as it turned out two award winners, ESPN felt compelled to put the Oklahoma State helmet on the interview set of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show in Orlando, Fla.

At one point, Chris Fowler, the host of the show, said that's two wins for the Cowboys.

It was a great night for Oklahoma State. Justin Blackmon was the clear choice for the Biletnikoff Award and was very impressive and humble in accepting it.

Kendall Hunter did not have the chance to share his brevity but he was in tough competition and LaMichael James of Oregon is an outstanding player. Hunter has done the Cowboys proud. You had to love in his video introduction the fact that he has led the BIg 12 in rushing twice.

Then there was Dan Bailey, who wasn't sure he had a chance in a phone conversation with his former roommate and my son, but came out on top as the Lou Groza Award winner. Bailey repeats a previous Cowboy honoree in Matt Fodge of not making the All-Big 12 team and winning a major award. Bailey deserved it as he was brilliant all season long making every important kick the Cowboys needed.

Two award winners, two Walter Camp All-Americans, three award finalists, their families and position coaches all there to soak in a very special night. I bet they always remember they were there for that honoring of college football ambassador Lee Corso.

Congratulations Dan, Justin, and Kendall! You have done yourself, your teammates, your coaches, your school, and all of its fans very proud. You have helped put the Oklahoma State brand even further in the pursuit of national prominence.
