McCoy Says Razorbacks Are Showing Interest

It never fails, a player from a state commits to a school out of state and then all of a sudden the big in-state school jumps in and starts defending its turf. Just before Christmas and heading to San Antonio, Texas for the Alamo Bowl, Mike Gundy and the Oklahoma State Cowboys got a present in the form of a commitment by explosive and speedy 6-0, 170-pound wide receiver and athlete Isaac McCoy.

McCoy broke all kinds of scoring records for Alma this season and played all over the field including quarterback in the "wild dog" formation. He is also a point guard on the basketball team and likely to threaten some school records there as well.

"Yes, Arkansas is recruiting me," said McCoy of the recent activity by the Hogs. "They haven't offered but they came to the school yesterday and they are recruiting me."

McCoy said he will make his visit to Oklahoma State on the huge weekend coming up in which the majority of the Cowboys committed players will make the trip to Stillwater.

"Coach Brewer said I am coming in on that weekend where almost all of the other guys are too," he said. "It is January 14, 15 and 16. I'm going to have to miss a basketball game that weekend but that is okay. I am looking forward to the visit. It'll be good."

McCoy, who scored 32 touchdowns this past season for Alma, made the Arkansas All-State team and was a finalist for the State Farm Award in Class 5A as the player of the year. He told me that the basketball team is 9-3 and they play Morrillton Friday night.

We'll check back with McCoy but it sure sounds like for now, even with Arkansas trying to gain some ground, that McCoy is firmly committed to the Cowboys.
