On defense. he had 48 tackles along with four interceptions, and two pass deflections. He has found a lot of ways to contribute and homestate Mississippi has him on its list of commitment.
"Yes, I'm committed to Mississippi but I'm still looking around," said Moncrief. "I'm just checking things out to see if that is what's best or if something else out there is better for me."
One of the schools he will check out, in fact both of the schools he will check out, come down to a connection with his cousin.
"My cousin is Robert Gillespie," explained Moncrief.
Yes, that is the same Robert Gillespie that has been the running back coach at Oklahoma State the last two years and just recently left after the Alamo Bowl to join recent OSU offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen on his offensive staff in West Virginia, where Holgorsen will become head coach in 2012.
As far as Oklahoma State, Moncrief said he has a really good reason to go check out the Cowboys. OSU wide receiver coach Gunter Brewer is his recruiting coach.
"They have the best wide receiver in college football and they have produced the best wide receiver in college football the last two seasons," said Moncrief, who recently played in the Offense-Defense National All-Star Game in South Carolina.
"If they can do that then they can do that with me, so I have to go check that out. I'm going there this weekend."
Moncrief said he will visit Mississippi on Jan. 21 and his other school he will check out and just added to the list, no surprise...
"I'm going up to West Virginia on January 28," he added.
