Jones All Set After His Visit

Besides defensive tackles, cornerbacks are the hardest type of players to find enough of on the defensive side of the ball. Cornerback Miketavius Jones of Galena Park (North Shore), Texas, has built the reputation of being an outstanding cover corner.

This season Jones was part of a defense that held opposing offenses to 116.6 yards passing per game and 19.7 points per game. Jones had at least one interception this season and we know that few teams challenged him.

He was on his official visit to Oklahoma State this weekend. Jones committed to the Cowboys last summer.

"It was great," said Jones. "I loved the facilities and they are really nice. I also really liked the coaches. My host was Larry Stephens, the corner from my school, and that was great."

Asked further about the facilities, he admitted that he has a favorite.

"I guess you could say that I'm a weight room guy," said Jones. "It's all of it though, the locker room, meeting rooms, all of it. Everything is really great.

"The campus is pretty big, all of the buildings are big and nice," added Jones of the bus tour of the campus."

Jones said this spring he will run track again for North Shore. The 5-11, 175-pound Jones has a 4.5 in the forty.

He added that he was impressed with all of the other guys in the class. The visit weekend made a little more of an impact on him as he was not able to get up to Oklahoma State during the season to attend a game, so it was all much more brand new to him.

Jones said he was impressed overall and is firmly committed to playing and going to school at Oklahoma State.
