"I'm in the process of looking at my options," Allen said. "I'm going to summer school and getting some things out of the way because I'm trying to graduate early and be ready to go to college in January.
"I'm looking at Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Minnesota, Tulsa, New Mexico, and then I went out to Alabama and they are looking at me too. I would like to make a decision before my season because then I have a safety valve and I know no matter what I have a place," he said.
Sound thinking for a receiver that showed consistency last season with 51 receptions for 678 yards and six touchdowns. The athletic Allen also plays guard in basketball at Elkins. He ran down each of the schools and where he feels he stands with each one.
"Oklahoma State, I really like the coaching staff and Coach (Mike) Gundy and Coach Defo (Joe DeForest)," Allen explained. "I've been up there and seen the facilities and they are fantastic, and I like the way they feature the wide receiver in the offense. It's a nice college town and I like that.
"Iowa State, I haven't been up there or anything but the coaches really like me and I feel that," Allen added on the Cyclones. "They love me and I love them. It is a good school.
"Minnesota and Tulsa, I haven't been there but it really has to do with the coaches. We talk on Facebook and things like that."
The Alabama trip was huge, said Allen. "The trip was last Thursday and they wanted me to workout and run some routes," he said. "It went great and I understand that they have two other receivers that they are looking at, but we'll see what happens."
Allen didn't give an exact date but implied that he would like to get something decided before September and the opening kickoff of the Elkins season.
