McNeil, Lawry Waiting on Two-A-Days

We caught up with standout skill athletes in safety LaDarrell McNeil and safety/wide receiver Damien Lawry, both from Dallas (A. Maceo Smith), Texas. The pair performed well in Stillwater back on June 12 at an Oklahoma State one-day minicamp and now according to a conversation with Lawry the pair are getting ready for two-a-days which start on Aug. 1.

"I haven't been anywhere lately," said Damien Lawry, who did hit Kansas with McNeil for one of the Jayhaws Friday Night Lights camps. "I've been here (in Dallas) getting ready for two-a-days. Nothing going on, really. I'll let you know if something happens (with recruiting)."

The 6-0, 175-pound Lawry has offers from Arizona, Kansas, Notre Dame, TCU, and Utah. It is funny because all of those schools and more have also offered LaDarrell McNeil. The 6-2, 200-pound McNeil has also been on the road some in July.

"I just got back from visiting Tennessee and Alabama," said McNeil. "I'm back now for the start of football on August 1. I feel like I am closer to making a decision. I would say right now that Tennessee and Oklahoma State are at the top of my schools."

In addition to OSU and Tennessee, McNeil has offers from Arizona, Baylor, Kansas, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Syracuse, TCU, Texas A&M, and Utah.

"I really liked Tennessee and everything around there, but Oklahoma State is really good too," McNeil explained. "I like the coaches and I have a good relationship with Coach Defo (Joe DeForest). I could see myself being at Oklahoma State, whether I played football or if I wasn't."

I would say that McNeil and Lawry are not a package deal although they have a lot of matching offers. I could see them ending up at the same place. However, Lawry does not currently have an offer from either Oklahoma State or Tennessee.

We'll keep you posted.
