McNeil Averaging 10 Tackles A Game

LaDarrell McNeil says everything is going really good right now as the 6-2 1/2, 185-pound safety prospect out of Wilmer Hutchins High School near Dallas likes the way his team has started the season.

"Alright, everything is going pretty good," said McNeil, who committed to Tennessee in mid-August after being pursued by a number of schools. "We're having a pretty good start to the season and we are 3-1 after beating Crandall on Friday. We have a bye this week.

"Individually, man, we are working hard," he added. "Damien (Lawry, a 5-10, 175-pound receiver and corner) has a couple of interceptions and he scored a couple of touchdowns the other night. Damien has been playing really good. I'm averaging about 10 tackles a game, so it's good right now."

McNeil said he has not been to a Tennessee game and is still working with the Vols on his official visit.

"We've talked about the schedule and trying to work out when I can get out there. I don't know for sure, but I would like to try and get out there for a game and make my official visit when I can see them play."

McNeil said he is normally a football watcher but he was at a friend's 16th birthday party this weekend and did not get a chance to see any football.

"I normally watch football and I love to watch college football," he added."

McNeil said the recruiting process has been smooth since he committed to Tennessee, but he admitted that he still gets a lot of calls from schools and recruiters wanting to know if anything has changed. McNeil said he is firmly committed to Tennessee.
