We had to ask, why were the two strong Missouri programs playing a playoff game on Monday night?
"I don't know, It was kind of weird, but I don't know. I honestly cannot tell, I just know we showed up and played and won," said Sheperd, who did score the first touchdown of the game. "It was a short run. I went in motion to the backfield and then ran a short sweep for the touchdown."
Sheperd has scored 21 touchdowns this season and is one of the scoring leaders in the St. Louis area. He also has 45 receptions for 780 yards and is averaging 17.3 yards per reception.
Webster Groves gave him plenty of attention in the contest.
"They had two people on me throughout the game," added Sheperd.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Sheperd was supposed to make an unofficial visit last Saturday to catch what turned out to be a really wild Oklahoma State win over Kansas State. That was scratched to prepare for the playoff win. Now, when does Sheperd plan on making his visits as he has narrowed his school choices down to Oklahoma State and Missouri.
"It look like I am going to make my official visit to Oklahoma State for Bedlam," said Sheperd, meaning the weekend of Dec. 3 for his visit to Stillwater. "I will go to Missouri on Dec. 10."
Asked if the recent news of Missouri officially joining the SEC makes any difference, Sheperd said, "Not really, I think they will be able to compete."
