Austin, Lagow Eyeball Cowboys Practice

Oklahoma State held its second practice of spring football with Missouri State head coach Terry Allen and his staff, and several high school coaching staffs, in attendance. Boone Pickens Stadium has really become a landmark with the success of the Cowboys program and there was even a couple up in the bleachers with a professional photographer taking engagement pictures.

Also in attendance were a pair of Texas high school standouts in the recruiting class of 2013 on hand. Lancaster cornerback Dakota Austin was at the practice with his family and Plano quarterback Richard Lagow was checking it out too.

Austin sat in the stands most of the practice and watched the secondary that includes starting cornerbacks in senior Brodrick Brown and stellar athlete Justin Gilbert.

The 5-11, 170-pound Austin is a speedy talent who has really done well at some of the postseason combines in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Texas Tech has offered Austin and there are a bunch of other schools that may be close.

Lagow is a 6-6, 218-pound quarterback that really seemed to be excited to see recently graduated OSU quarterback Brandon Weeden at the practice. That appeared to be a neat bonus for Lagow, who last season completed 122 of 215 passes for 1,646 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions. Physically, he is a very impressive looking prospect.

We spoke with Weeden and found out he was just back in town after shooting the Fired Football Coaches Association Combine with Jon Gruden in Tampa. Weeden said it was a blast and that he and Gruden really got along. The show airs on April 18.
