Prime Prospects Expected For Spring Finale

One thing is certain, if Oklahoma State fans want to get a good look at the Cowboys most recent recruiting class they need to be at Boone Pickens Stadium on Saturday to check out the Spring Football Finale and the Orange-Gray game. In addition, a number of prospects in the 2013 recruiting class are expected to be in Stillwater, including standout wide receiver prospect Fred Ross of Tyler, Texas.

On the field, you will see four members of the 2012 class:
Quarterback Wes Lunt, who is competing for the starting job with a good spring and loads of improvement;
First-team defensive tackle Calvin Barnett from Navarro (Texas) College;
First-team inside receiver Blake Jackson out of Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College, and
Bac-up linebacker Jeremiah Tshimanga out of North Richland Hills in Texas.

In the stands watching their new teammates will be defensive end Trace Clark, linebacker Seth Jacobs out of California, running back Caleb Muncrief, safety Kevin Peterson, wide receiver Brandon Sheperd out of St. Louis, inside receiver Blake Webb, and big offensive tackle Michael Wilson. Those guys are signed, sealed and delivered.

You want to know about the 2013 recruits? One of those is committed is Ross, who has indicated that he will be attending Saturday. The 6-1, 180-pound speedster had 99 recpetions for 1,335 yards and 15 touchdowns last season, along with 460 yards rushing and six touchdowns.

Expected to join Ross are top Cowboys running back target Dontre Wilson of DeSoto, Texas. Wilson can do it all with over a 1,000 all-purpose yards and 17 touchdowns last season as a junior. He is reportedly coming with three DeSoto Eagles teammates.

Wide receiver Marcell Ateman of Wylie (East), Texas was one of Oklahoma State's first offers and the 6-4, 190-pound pass catcher is expected on Saturday with family, Last season he caught a whopping 67 passes for 1,047 yards and 10 toucchdowns.

One of the best defensive prospects in the class nationwide, Torrodney Prevot, out of Alief (Taylor), Texas, has said he is coming to Stillwater to watch the Cowboys in action. The 6-4, 220-pound defensive end that runs close to 4.5 has already been to a number of spring games including LSU and Texas. Prevot has also been to OSU. He had 53 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, and 14 sacks last season.

There also could be a couple of in-state prospects making the trip to OSU in Edmond Santa Fe safety Khari Harding and Douglass defensive end Deondre Clark. Clark was offered by the Cowboys earlier this week. Tulsa Union defensive end Dalton Rodriguez was also offered by the Cowboys and was excited but had a previously planned trip to Arizona for their spring game.

A few offensive line prospects expected on Saturday include Midland, Texas offensive guard Grant Canis (6-3, 269), Amarillo Tascosa's Hunter Higgins (6-3, 270), and Leawood (BLue Valley), Kansas standout Clay Rhodes (6-6, 265), who has seven offers including Missouri, Kansas State, Purdue, and Iowa State.
