Cowboys Offer Pair Of Safeties

The safety position is a priority in Oklahoma State's 2013 recruiting class and new safeties coach Van Malone has obviously been busy on the recruiting trail. The Cowboys offered this week scholarships to another two safety prospects.

Tre'Quille Flowers out of Converse (Judson), Texas and Austin Jupe from of San Antonio (East Central) have both heard from the Cowboys that they would like to add them to the program.

Flowers is a 6-2, 175-pound speedster who runs 4.4 and is a track standout in the 100 meters, long jump, and 4x100 and 4x200 relays. Flowers also plays cornerback at powerhouse Judson. He also has scholarship offers from Kansas State, Mississippi State, BYU, Tulsa, Purdue, and Texas Tech.

Jupe is also a track standout who finished fourth in the 110 meter hurdles and fifth in the 4x200-meter relay at the state track meet. He is currently in spring football, but told us that ends Friday with the last day of classes at East Central. Jupe said he got the news from Oklahoma State on Wednesday night.

"Coach Van Malone told me that they were offering a scholarship," said Jupe. "I have offers from them and Texas-San Antonio.

"I'm really happy about that because Oklahoma State is such a good program, and I have known Coach Malone from when he was recruiting me at Tulsa. When he was at North Texas he coached my uncle, so I have known him for a long time. He told me he likes how I am playing and we talked for about 30 minutes."

Jupe is a big safety at 6-2, 190 pounds and has good speed. Last season he had four interceptions and broke up five passes. He had 56 tackles at safety, and he also spends a lot of time at cornerback.

Jupe said his plan is to visit Oklahoma State unofficially during the summer.
