One More Mini-Camp Roundup

Saturday is the final half-day mini-camp of the summer hosted by the Oklahoma State coaching staff. The activities begin at 1 p.m. with registration and move outside at 2:20 p.m. with stretch and dynamic warm-up in preparation for speed development. All outdoor activities have been moved from inside the stadium to the grass practice fields.

The camp will also include agility training, offensive and defensive instruction and drills, and fundamentals of offensive and defensive line play. The camp will conclude at 5 p.m. It will be a toaster out there as temperatures reached 105 degrees in Stillwater on Friday afternoon.

The expectation is that there will be a lot of walk-up traffic and at times there are as many as 100 walk-ups for this type of camp.

Among the early paying campers are in-state prospects like Tulsa Washington cornerback James Caligone (5-11, 165) and Oklahoma City Millwood wide receiver/defensive back Deshawn Stephens.

Coming to Stillwater from out-of-state are Highland Park products Matt Bannon (WR, 5-11, 175) and center/deep snapper William Barnes (6-3, 262). Barnes can run a 4.92 in the forty.

Garrett York is a 6-2, 225-pound undersized defensive tackle out of Crandall that makes a lot of plays. Blake Johnson from Elhorn South in Omaha, Neb., is a 6-4, 202-pound, 4.72 undersized defensive end.

Markus Phox is a quarterback that will need to move next season and the Wichita Collegiate player has good athletic skills, as does receiver and DB Kwadre' Wilson out of Manvel, Texas.

Again, most of the attention will be on eyeballing the walk-ups.

Oklahoma State is in excellent position with its recruiting for 2013 with 15 verbal commitments, including Elite 11 quarterback Luke Del Rio and a trio of spectacular wide receivers including Ra'Shaad Samples, Fred Ross, and Marcell Ateman.
