Recruits Who Attended OSU-Savannah State

The turnout from high school recruits was not real heavy, which could be expected with Oklahoma State hosting an overmatched opponent Saturday night and many of the high school athletes wrapping up their first weekend of real games. In fact, some of Oklahoma State's commitments and targeted players for the 2013 class were in action on Saturday night.

In Dallas, Skyline High School posted a major win over a powerhouse program from the Houston area as they defeated The Woodlands 42-28. OSU commitment Ra'Shaad Samples, son of head coach Reginal Samples, caught 11 balls for 169 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.

Further west, quarterback commitment Luke Del Rio was involved in a heartbreaking loss for the second week in a row. The two-time defending state champion from the Denver area lost last week to rival Bishop Mullen late in the game and this week went out of state to face powerhouse Bingham of South Jordan, Utah.

We could not find stats, but The Salt Lake Tribune had this comment in their game story from the 22-21 overtime win by Bingham:
Bingham has consistently scheduled marquee games against out-of-state opponents. But in 2009 the Miners were dismanted by Euless Trinity (Texas) in Dallas and last year were blown out against Orange Lutheran (Calif.). Coach Dave Peck said he told his team that they needed to make a good showing against Valor Christian, or he was inclined to stop scheduling out-of-state games.

No need for that now, although for much of the game Bingham seemed overmatched. McCaffrey and quarterback Luke Del Rio, son of Broncos assistant and former NFL head coach Jack Del Rio, were connected all night, carving up the Bingham secondary.

As for the recruits not in action and in the stands at Boone Pickens Stadium, here is the list which is highlighted by two commitments in cornerback Darius Curry, who attended with his family to see his brother C.J. play his first game for the Cowboys. Curry brought along a talented younger brother and some teammates. Flowery Branch lost a match-up Friday when the seventh=ranked Falcons fell to top-ranked Northside Robbins 45-7.
