Future Cowboys: How They Looked This Week

Jerel Morrow of Emporia, Kan., Fred Ross of Tyler (John Tyler), Texas, and Carion Webster of Atlanta, Texas were each impressive during their team's games Friday night. Morrow broke up a two-point conversion pass to seal his team's victory, while Ross and Webster did the job on offense. Marcell Ateman, WR (6-4, 190)
East High School (Wylie, Texas)
This week's game: Wylie East (2-1) had a bye this week. Through three games this season, Ateman has 23 receptions for 234 yards (15.6 average per catch) for three touchdowns.

ZACH CRABTREE, OL (6-7, 260)
Mansfield High School (Mansfield, Texas)
This week's game: Mansfield (2-2) suffered a heart-breaking 23-21 loss when South Grand Prairie kicked a 44-yard field goal with just five seconds left in the game on Friday night.

DARIUS CURRY, CB (6-1, 190)
Flowery Branch High School (Flowery Branch, Ga.)
This week's game: Curry scored on an 82-yard run in his role as the backup quarterback as Flowery Branch rolled to an easy 47-14 victory over Loganville on Friday night. Also, sophomore Justin Curry, the Cowboy commit's younger brother, rushed for 143 yards on just nine carries and added three pass catches for 12 yards, and scored three touchdowns.

LUKE DEL RIO, QB (6-2, 195)
Valor Christian High School (Highlands Ranch, Colo.)
This week's game: Del Rio, playing in front of OSU head coach Mike Gundy who made the trip to Colorado to watch the quarterback in person, played sparingly in Valor Christian's 51-0 dismantling of Legend on Thursday night. He completed 7 of 13 passes for 72 yards with one touchdown. For the season, Del Rio is now 58 of 98 passing for 640 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.

RAMI HAMMAD, OL (6-5, 310)
JAXON SALINAS, OL (6-4, 285)
Irving High School (Irving, Texas)
This week's game: Irving (0-3) has a bye this week and will be looking for its first victory when it plays at Nimitz on Friday night.

JACK KURZU, OL (6-5, 302)
Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day (St. Louis, Mo.)
This week's game: Kurzu and the Rams (1-3) play Saturday against John Burroughs.

This week's game: Morrow caught five passes for 72 yards but it was his deflection of a pass from his cornerback position on a potential game-tying two-point conversion as second-ranked Emporia held on to defeat Topeka Seaman 21-19 on Friday night.

OGBONNIA OKORONWU, DE (6-3, 220)
Alief Taylor High School (Houston, Texas)
This week's game: The Alief Taylor Lions scored their only touchdown with 19 seconds remaining in the game and then converted a two-point conversion for an 8-7 victory over Angleton on Friday night. The Lions improve to 2-2 with the win.

DERIC ROBERTSON, S (6-2, 185)
Killeen High School (Killeen, Texas)
This week's game: Killeen remains undefeated (3-0) after allowing three touchdowns in the final three minutes to hang on for a 42-41 victory over Stony Point. The Kangaroos stopped Stony Point's two-point conversion for the victory on the game's final play.

FRED ROSS, WR (6-0, 180)
John Tyler High School (Tyler, Texas)
This week's game: Ross caught five passes for 83 yards, including a 27-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter, and also scored his team's first touchdown on a 64-yard power sweep to help John Tyler defeat Mesquite Horn 35-30 on Friday night. For the season, Ross has 15 catches for 304 yards and six touchdowns.

This week's game: Samples and Skyline had a week off before facing Dallas Jesuit next Friday night. Through his first three games, Samples has 15 receptions for 245 yards (16.3 yards per catch) and six touchdowns.

JORDAN STERNS, DB (5-11, 190)
Steele High School (Cibolo, Texas)
This week's game: Sterns had an interception to set up a second-half touchdown as Cibolo Steele scored 28 unanswered points in the second half en route to a 35-10 victory over Austin Westlake on Friday night.

VINCENT TAYLOR, DT (6-3, 270)
Madison High School (San Antonio, Texas)
This week's game: In a matchup of two of the top three teams in the state, No. 2 Smithson Valley was dominant in rolling to a 49-24 victory over No. 3 Madison.

CARION WEBSTER, RB (5-11, 190)
Atlanta High School (Atlanta, Texas)
This week's game: Webster returned to action Friday night after missing parts of the previous two games with an injury and the running back made a difference with 89 rushing yards, including a 29-yard touchdown run, to help Atlanta defeat Gladewater 31-20 as the Rabbits won for the first time this season.
