Salinas Says Unofficial Visit Was 'Awesome'

Jaxon Salinas of Irving, Texas made his commitment to Oklahoma State in late July over offers from Rice, Memphis and New Mexico State. Salinas got the Oklahoma State offer and quickly jumped in the Cowboys' boat along with fellow Irving High School offensive lineman Rami Hammad. On Saturday, Salinas and Hammad both headed up I-35 to Stillwater to check out their future home.

"It was my first game at Oklahoma State, and it was an awesome experience," said the 6-4, 300-pound Salinas. "I got there around 3:45 and I got to see all the fans and I was upstairs (in the west end zone) looking down and got to see the end of "The Walk" (the players walk through the fans from the Student Union to the stadium).

"Even though they didn't win it was really good to see how strong the atmosphere is. You can see where the team is really good."

Salinas was very excited about Irving opening up district play last Friday with a 34-31 win in double overtime over rival Irving Nimitz.

"We struggled some in the non-district but it was really good to start unbeaten in district play," Salinas added. "This week we have L.D. Bell."

Asked if he is still solid on his commitment to Oklahoma State, Salinas said, "Solid, OSU by far."
