"Yeah, I am having a really good season," said Smith, who is pretty humble about it all. The product of Wichita (Heights), Kan., who originally signed with the University of Kansas has been really outstanding at Butler.
He opened the season with 12 carries for 97 yards and two touchdowns against Dodge City. He then posted 10 carries for 84 rushing yards and a touchdown against Blinn, and against Fort Scott he had 13 carries for 129 yards and a 74-yard touchdown.
More recently, he had 19 carries for 157 rushing yards and four touchdowns against Independence, and then 13 carries for 193 yards and three touchdowns versus Garden City.
"I'm friends with Joseph Randle," confirmed Smith. "Oklahoma State and West Virginia are the two schools that I know of with recruiting.
"My coach has information on others and he is going to give that to me later. I went to West Virginia in July and Coach (Robert) Gillespie is recruiting me. Coach (Jemal) Singleton is recruiting me for Oklahoma State. I'll be out in December."
That means Smith will be enrolling for the spring semester at his new home, and will be there for spring football. He says right now he is 5-11 and weighs 215 pounds. Smith is a former track guy in high school that has plenty of speed.
As for when he will visit Oklahoma State or any other schools that will come after he has taken care of his business this fall with Butler.
