Future Cowboys: Another Impressive Week

Marcell Ateman (three receiving touchdowns), Deric Robertson (43-yard interception return for a score), Fred Ross (a touchdown reception and a scoring run), Ra'Shaad Samples (two TD catches) and Corian Webster (three rushing TDs) accounted for 11 touchdowns in leading their respective high school teams to wins. Here's a look at how each of the Cowboys commitments and their teams did this week.

Marcell Ateman, WR (6-4, 190)
East High School (Wylie, Texas)
This week's game: Ateman was on the receiving end of seven passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns as Wylie East defeated Royse City 56-14 on Friday night. He caught touchdown passes of 16, 63 and 45 yards. Through eight games, Ateman has 52 receptions for 1,009 yards (19.4 yards per catch) for 15 touchdowns.

This week's game: Flowery Branch came from behind for the second week in a row to clinch a playoff berth with a 24-13 victory over Clarke Central. It was the Falcons' seventh win in a row after opening the season with back-to-back losses.

LUKE DEL RIO, QB (6-2, 195)
Valor Christian High School (Highlands Ranch, Colo.)
This week's game: Del Rio completed 6 0f 9 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns as Valor Christian drilled Rock Canyon 63-7 to wrap up the regular season. For the season, Del Rio is now 108 of 158 passing (68.4 percent) for 1,398 yards with 16 touchdowns and three interceptions.

Irving High School (Irving, Texas)
This week's game: Irving (3-5) kept its playoff hopes alive with a 54-0 victory over Carrollton Turner on Thursday night.

University High School (Waco, Texas)
This week's game: The latest OSU commit, Hughes did not play Friday night because of an injury but University High defeated Burleson 26-0 to keep its playoff hopes alive.

This week's game: Morrow caught five passes for 96 yards, including a 55-yard catch and run for a touchdown on a screen pass, as Emporia defeated Valley Center 34-0 on Friday night to clinch the district title. The Spartans (8-1) will open the playoffs Friday night at home against Andover Central (4-5).

DERIC ROBERTSON, S (6-2, 185)
Killeen High School (Killeen, Texas)
This week's game: Robertson had a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown and recovered an onside kick in the game's final minutes to seal the win as Killeen defeated Belton 45-39 on Friday night.

FRED ROSS, WR (6-0, 180)
John Tyler High School (Tyler, Texas)
This week's game: Ross opened the scoring with a 4-yard touchdown run and he also had a 12-yard scoring reception as John Tyler clinched its fourth consecutive district title with a 59-7 victory on Friday night. Ross finished with four pass catches for 33 yards and two rushes for 10 yards. For the season, he has 35 catches for 618 yards (18.7 average) and nine touchdowns.

RA'SHAAD SAMPLES, WR (5-11, 170)
Skyline High School (Dallas, Texas)
This week's game: Samples was on the receiving end of seven passes for 84 yards from quarterback Devante Samples on Friday night as Skyline defeated Richardson 49-20. The senior receiver had scoring receptions of 14 and 8 yards, his 17th and 18th touchdown catches. For the season, Samples has 37 receptions for 682 yards (18.4 yards per catch) and 18 touchdowns.
