Crabtree, Robertson To Meet In Playoffs

Offensive line prospect and Oklahoma State commitment Zach Crabtree of Mansfield, Texas was in Stillwater on Saturday as one of the unofficial visitors for the Cowboys 55-34 win over West Virginia. The 6-7, 280-pound Crabtree said he had a good time.

"It was a good time and a fun game to be at," said Crabtree. "I met a a guy there for the first time, Naim Mustafaa. He was there on an official visit and I had a chance to talk to him, and I met Jack Kurzu (offensive line commitment from St. Louis) for the first time."

Crabtree and his Mansfield teammates finished up the season strong and qualified for the playoffs. Lo and behold, in the first round Mansfield will travel to neutral site Waxahachie for a first-round Class 5A Division I Bi-District meeting with Killeen. Crabtree will play against fellow Oklahoma State commitment and Killeen safety Deric Robertson.

"We have already been talking about it," said Crabtree. "I talked to Deric about it and it's going to be fun."

Asked if the conversation was smack or on the level, Crabtree said, "It was a little of both. We were getting on each other some, but we also just talked about how good it will be to see each other and play in the game," he said.

Crabtree said it was really rewarding to be in the playoffs after starting the season 0-2.

"Our coaches just said keep fighting, fight every day and pay attention to what you can do and focus on that," said Crabtree.

"It was really great to fight back in the playoffs, and two weeks ago we got Cedar Hill at their place and then last Thursday in our last regular season game we played DeSoto and they are a nationally elite team right now and we went to the wire with them."

Mansfield plays Killeen in that first-round playoff game at 7:30 on Friday in Waxahachie.
