Future Cowboys: Fred Ross Leads John Tyler

Oklahoma State commits Fred Ross and Jordan Sterns helped their teams stay alive with big-time playoff performances this weekend. This week we've included the results for Dee Paul and Munday High School, the tiny school in West Texas which took a step closer to winning the Class A Division II state title. Paul has reportedly narrowed his choices to OSU and Texas Tech.

TAYLOR LEWIS, CB (6-0, 185)
DeSoto High School (DeSoto, Texas)
The most recent Cowboys commitment, Lewis and his DeSoto teammates defeated Southlake Carroll 49-45 in a Class 5A Division I quarterfinal game on Saturday afternoon. The Eagles remain unbeaten at 14-0 and advance to next week's semifinals against Allen (13-1).

FRED ROSS, WR (6-0, 180)
John Tyler High School (Tyler, Texas)
Ross picked a good time to have the best game of his senior season with a 13-catch, 172-yard, three-touchdown performance in Friday night's 38-24 victory over Frisco Centennial in a Class 4A Division I quarterfinal game. Ross caught an 18-yard scoring pass in the first quarter, added a 46-yard scoring reception in the third period and capped his night with a 13-yard TD reception in the fourth quarter. The Lions (13-1) advance to next weekend's semifinals against Denton Guyer (12-2). For the season, he has 75 catches for 1,448 yards (19.3 average) and 22 touchdowns.

RA'SHAAD SAMPLES, WR (5-11, 170)
Skyline High School (Dallas, Texas)
Samples caught four passes for 40 yards, including a 13-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter, in his final game as Skyline suffered a 37-17 loss to Allen in a Class 5A Division I quarterfinal playoff game on Saturday. Skyline finishes 12-2. For the season, Samples had 62 catches for 1,072 yards (17.3 yards per catch) and 23 touchdowns.

JORDAN STERNS, DB (5-11, 190)
Steele High School (Cibolo, Texas)
Sterns played running back for the first time this season and had 88 rushing yards on 14 carries, including touchdown runs of 14 and 8 yards in the first quarter, as Cibolo Steele defeated Brandeis 28-12 on Saturday in a Class 5A Division II quarterfinal game at the Alamodome. Cibolo Steele (14-0) will face Katy (14-0) in a semifinal on Saturday at Baylor.

VINCENT TAYLOR, DT (6-3, 270)
Madison High School (San Antonio, Texas)
Taylor and his Madison Mavs teammates saw their season come to a close with a disappointing 52-49 loss to San Antonio O'Connor on Saturday afternoon.

DEE PAUL, ATH (5-11, 165)
Munday High School (Munday, Texas)
Paul, who is said to be deciding between Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, had 315 rushing yards and four touchdowns – including 72- and 96-yard scoring runs – as Munday defeated Albany 55-13 on Friday night in a Class A Division II quarterfinal playoff game. The Munday Moguls (13-0) will face Wellington (13-0) in the semifinals Friday night.
For the season, he has 75 catches for 1,448 yards (19.3 average) and 22 touchdowns.
