It became official Wednesday afternoon –- Oklahoma State will open the 2014 season on Aug. 30 against Florida State in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, it was announced by OSU, Florida State, the Dallas Cowboys and ESPN. The game will be broadcast to a national television audience by ESPN.
It had been rumored for several weeks that the Cowboys and Seminoles would open the 2014 season by playing in the Cowboys Classic. The 2012 game featured Alabama against Michigan, and TCU will play LCU in the 2013 game.
The announcement comes just a month after OSU released the 2013 schedule which includes opening the season against Mississippi State on Aug. 31 as part of the 2013 Texas Kickoff Classic to be played at Reliant Stadium in Houston.
OSU has played Florida State four times but the two schools haven't met since the 1985 Gator Bowl, which the Seminoles won 34-23. Florida State also won the last regular season game between the two teams by a score of 38-20 on Sept. 16, 1978 in Stillwater.
