Gundy To Illinois, Clements Heads To Texas

With the bowl season and the AFCA Convention concluding last week, the 2013 recruiting season officially hits its stretch. Schools will now be on the same schedule the rest of the way, and that is out on the road during the week making school and home visits before returning to campus for weekend official visits. There are no more dead periods until just before signing day on Wednesday, Feb. 6.

For Oklahoma State, there is just a brief time to continue to work on standout wide receiver Laquon Treadwell. The 6-3, 190-pound Treadwell had what the five-star recruit described on Twitter as a great trip where he had fun with a lot of new friends.

The MVP of Crete-Monee's Illinois Class 6A state championship win with 93 rushing yards, 85 receiving yards, two touchdowns, and 12 tackles and an interception said he will announce his decision between Mississippi and Oklahoma State at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Today, head coach Mike Gundy was in Chicago to make his way to Crete-Monee to visit Treadwell and his mother, who was not on the official visit to Stillwater. Treadwell was accompanied by three uncles, including former Oklahoma State All-American linebacker Ricky Young, when he make the trip to Stillwater.

Treadwell has not answered his phone since his OSU visit this weekend, but he has released some of his thoughts on Twitter.

OSU also hired a coach over the weekend, bringing in Kansas State defensive run coordinator and defensive line coach Joe Bob Clements to take over the defensive line for the Cowboys. He will replace Bill Young, who it was announced last week would not return.

Clements, a 15-year coaching veteran with 11 of those years at Kansas State, reported to Stillwater on Monday. He was in town just long enough to see his office, catch lunch, sign paperwork, and then hit the road to Texas to start visiting defensive line recruits, including Cowboys commitments such as All-State defensive tackle Vincent Taylor of San Antonio Madison and All-Centex defensive tackle Ben Hughes of Waco University.

He is also expected to visit with recruited players such as Tyler John defensive end Tyus Bowser.
