Cannon Focusing On State Track Meet

We checked up on one of Oklahoma State's top receiver prospects (and many other school's) in K.D. Cannon out of Mt. Pleasant, Texas. We last saw Cannon running great routes and making catches on some of the better defensive backs attending the Nike Football Training Camp in Allen, Texas.

Cannon is a blazer but at the Nike event he proved to be bigger and more physical than you might imagine. He is listed at 6-1, 165 pounds and has legit sub-4.4 speed. One feature that got a lot of attention from observers like us were his big hands. He has big strong hands to make those grabs from defenders.

So what has Cannon been up to since the NFTC? "Just getting ready for the state track meet this weekend starting Thursday in Austin," said the flyer Cannon.

"I'm running in the 100 and 200 (meters). Our football team did start spring football about two weeks ago but I have not been in that while waiting on state for track."

Cannon has nothing to prove but coaches passing through during the evaluation period would love to see what we all saw in Allen at the NFTC.

Cannon has offers from Oklahoma State as well as Baylor, Clemson, Florida State, and you could stop right there as those are all schools that put out top wideouts in college football. He's also hearing from Miami, Nebraska, OU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and West Virginia.

"I haven't really thought about recruiting," added Cannon. "I'm really focused on track. No, I don't have any other offers."

Cannon also said as of right now he does not have any definite plans for the summer. Track and winning state are his primary focus.
