Recruiting Notebook: What To Expect In July

There have been surprises before and there have been Fourth of July announcements planned before by recruiting prospects, but there hasn't been any talk this year. The only recruit Oklahoma State was really in on at The Opening that had an announcement planned was defensive back Arrion Springs of San Antonio (Roosevelt), Texas, and Thursday night he picked Oregon over Texas on ESPNU.

Expect this to be a slow weekend and a slow time over the next couple of weeks with recruiting. As predicted, the Cowboys are at the double digit mark with 12 commitments going into the holiday weekend.

The football office is closed until Monday, July 8, and even then there are just a couple of full-time coaches in the office. Yes, coaches do recruit on vacation and you have to but many of the prospects are either physically on vacation or in a vacation mood.

I will predict that three or four commitments will come in sometime between the middle of July and the middle of August. Here is a list of players that could end up in that category:
D.J. Chark, WR, Alexandria, La.
Kaelin Deboskie, WR, Tucson (Salpointe Catholic), Ariz.
T.V. Williams, WR, McKinney, Texas
Zach Ledwik, OL, LaGrange, Texas
Ryan Raulerson, OL, Tampa (Plant), Fla.
Grant Blankenship, DE, The Colony, Texas
Justin Hollins, DE, Arlington (Grace Prep), Texas
Josh Mabin, LB, Klein (Oak), Texas
