Richards Commits To Cowboys

San Antonio (Brackenridge), Texas quarterback Ramon Richards and his family spent the entire day in Stillwater on Monday and by the time it was over the 6-1, 190-pound multi-talent player was finished with recruiting. Richards is the latest commitment for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

"Oklahoma State was good," said Richards. "I had a good time and we toured the entire campus and the athletic facilities. I was able to meet the coaches and spend time with them. I can be very comfortable in Stillwater and I left it with committing to Oklahoma State."

Richards is another prospect that Oklahoma State will convert. Last season at Brackenridge, Richards was a triple threat player in earning first-team All-Area honors as he completed 115-of-214 passes for 1,985 yards with 18 touchdowns and 10! Interceptions. He rushed the ball 160 times for 1,163 yards and 19 touchdowns. He caught 20 passes for 403 yards and 4 touchdowns.

That is all really solid production but he is most likely to play defense. A year ago, he had two interceptions with over 100 yards in returns.

"I'm probably going to play on defense," said Richards. "Coach (Van) Malone and Coach (Tim) Duffie are recruiting me and they are saying defensive back, either corner or safety."

Richards had lots of recruiting attention ranging from Baylor, Texas Tech, Oregon State, Rice, Yale and Harvard.

Obviously, he is a good student that told me he is unsure of what he will major in at OSU. Now he can focus on his senior year and his senior football season.
