Four-Star Linebacker Checks Out Cowboys

Late last week four-star linebacker Kenny Young out of John Curtis Christian School in River Ridge, La., narrowed his list of schools to 10, and he stated that he could see himself attending any of the 10 schools. Young is in Stillwater this week checking out one of the schools.

Oklahoma State made the cut for Young along with LSU, Mississippi, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Tennessee, Michigan, UCLA, and Texas A&M.

"I'm staying tomorrow and tomorrow is academic day and we'll check out the Academic Center," said the 6-2, 225-pound linebacker who is a really strong student as well as football player.

"Today, I got to go to the linebacker meeting and meet the coaches and see the campus and the facilities. It's all nice and the things they have really interest me. It was great that the coaches were so excited to see me."

Young said he does have some ideas on what he wants to major in while in college. He's considering civil engineering, kinesiology, and business.

As far as the recruiting process, Young said the narrowing of his list to 10 makes it more manageable for him.

"I'm just in the mix of looking for a school that I can be comfortable with," explained Young. "You know, comfortable with the campus and the coaches."

Young said he will head back to Louisiana after this trip. Practice at John Curtis starts on Monday. He will be looking to help win a state championship this season by adding to his 140 career tackles. Last season he made 81 tackles with six tackles for loss.
