Cowboys Prepare For First Scrimmage

STILLWATER -- Oklahoma State went out at 6 p.m. Friday, again using the new Sherman Smith Training Center indoors and the adjacent Astroturf practice field to the east for the second practice of the first day of two-a-days. The Cowboys were in helmets and shells (spider pads) jerseys, and shorts.

The workout was a combination of work on special teams as they will be included in certain segments of Saturday's scrimmage and a lot of review for both the offensive and defensive units. Practices like this one could almost be considered like a polishing for what's on tap for Saturday.

The practice only lasted about an hour and 20 minutes and the Cowboys were treated to Oriental cuisine on the training table following the workout.

It is expected that several prospects including a committed recruit or two will be around to view the Saturday scrimmage. I know for sure that running back Justin Curry, the younger brother of current Cowboys C.J. and Darius, will be with his parents at the scrimmage. The Currys now live in Fort Smith after moving from Flowery Branch, a suburb of Atlanta, Ga.

It is also speculated that Jenks, Okla., safety and the top prospect in Oklahoma Steven Parker will be among the visitors as well.

As reported by Scout's Ahmard Vital, cornerback Chris Hardeman of Houston (Alief Taylor), Texas is going to be traveling to OSU on Saturday, and it is expected that Taylor wide receiver Keenen Brown will be with Hardeman. Oklahoma State has offered Hardeman and has shown interest in Brown.

The Oklahoma State team will get its first day off since the start of fall camp on Sunday. With media availability following the scrimmage on Saturday we will have a late practice report on with as much detail as allowed and coach and player reaction to the scrimmage.
