The Cowboys Top Targets For 2015

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy embraces the strategy of Oklahoma and Texas being in-state for the Cowboys. The coaching staff also cherry picks other states, including Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Arizona and California. Here is an evaluation of the players being recruited by OSU in the new Scout 100 for 2015.

No. 2 - Malik Jefferson
The ultra-talented linebacker out of Mesquite (Poteet), Texas is a monster prospect. He is 6-3, 220 pounds, maybe bigger, and has a 315 bench and a 440 squat. Last season he had 105 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 5 fumbles caused and 5 fumbles recovered. His brother Tarik is a linebacker for Dan McCarney at North Texas, but he won't be. He has 14 offers and national invaders into Texas like FSU, Ohio State and Michigan are among them. Most of the Big 12 has offered. This will be a very high maintenance recruiting battle.

No. 21 - Kendall Sheffield
The corner from Missouri City (Marshall) Texas comes from a school the Cowboys have had success in recruiting. He has 10 offers including Baylor, Florida, Houston, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma State, OU, TCU, Texas, and A&M. He is an excellent cover corner with three picks last season despite QBs staying away from the sophomore.

No. 38 - Jalin Barnett
The only Oklahoman in the top 100, I saw him first last season in a game at Choctaw, and coaches from Oregon State, OU, Texas Tech, and Northeastern Oklahoma JC were all there drooling over the Lawton High School standout that night. He is a legit 6-4, 290 pounds and carries it well. Auburn, Oklahoma State, OU, Oregon State, Stanford, Texas State, and Texas Tech among his seven offers. He is smart too.

No. 43 - Justin Dunning
A big 6-3, 190-pound safety out of Whitehouse, Texas. This is Joe Wickline recruiting territory and this kid was a Class 4A All-State team member as a sophomore with 62 tackles, 5 interceptions, 3 fumbles caused, and 3 fumbles recovered. Baylor, Oklahoma State, OU, Texas, A&M, and Tech all offered so far.

No. 52 - Breiden Fehoko
A 6-3, 275-pound defensive lineman with 4.9 speed from Farrington High School in Honolulu, Hawaii, and OSU is recruiting him. Yes, get ready as the Cowboys are sincerely interested in talented players with Samoan, Tongan and Polynesian heritage. Fehoko is very strong and freakish fast. He has 15 offers mostly off the West Coast along with Hawaii, but also the Cowboys along with Alabama, Clemson, and Mississippi.

No. 55 - Chris Warren
A jumbo running back from Rockwall, Texas with a punishing style, Warren was in Stillwater for a scrimmage already this fall. He is 6-2, 220 pounds and last season rushed 174 times for 1,059 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also can catch with 10 receptions for 100 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. Alabama, Baylor, Mississippi State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, OU, SMU, Texas, and Tech have offered.

No. 60 - Larry Pryor
Safety or receiver? We'll say safety as the 6-1, 190-pounder out of Sulphur Springs, Texas is a really talented athlete that already has seven offers. He had 118 total tackles and a pick last season.

No. 88 - Anthony Wheeler
A 6-2, 225-pound linebacker out of Dallas Skyline, and the question is Oklahoma State in there? It looks like they haven't offered and five schools have including Baylor, Michigan, and Michigan State.

No. 99 - Cameron Townsend
A superstar from the new school in Missouri City, Texas in Ridge Point. He is 6-1, 195 pounds and great size for a speed linebacker. He could be a prospect for the "star" at Oklahoma State. He has really good speed. Baylor, Houston, Michigan, Oklahoma State, OU, Oregon State, and Texas have offered.
