What does Mason Rudolph do for an encore? The Oklahoma State quarterback commit put on an impressive display -- watched by many Cowboys fans on ESPN3.com -- by completing his first 16 passes (the 17th was a perfect throw that was dropped) in helping lead Northwestern High to a 51-19 victory over Gaffney in the first game of his senior season Friday night.
The 6-4, 200-pound Rudolph cooled down some in the second half before finishing the night by completing 29-of-38 passes for 260 yards and five touchdowns as the Trojans dominated the defending state champion Indians. He also scored on a 1-yard quarterback sneak to account for six of Northwestern's seven touchdowns.
Rudolph showed his ability to escape when in trouble several times when pressured in the pocket. Three of his five touchdown passes were direct results of him creating more time when he was either pressured in the backfield or his receivers were covered and he had no one open.
He threw the following scoring passes Friday night:
a 35-yarder to Quadarius Fair
a 12-yarder to Mustafia Love
an 11-yarder to Dupree Hart
a 23-yarder to Fair
a 12-yarder to Fair
