Louisiana Standout To Visit This Weekend

Running back Sione Palelei of East Ascension, La., was in Stillwater this summer to check out Oklahoma State. But then not long after that visit and during the summer Palelei made a verbal commitment to home state LSU.

The Tigers had waited a little while to offer the 5-10, 196-pound speedster that has clocked a 4.35 in the forty. Oklahoma State, Arkansas, BYU, Georgia Tech, Louisiana Tech, Pittsburgh, Southern Miss, Utah, and Washington State were among the schools that had jumped in early with scholarship offers. LSU came in and Palelei jumped on board.

Now he's making an official visit to Oklahoma State, and he did not seem to mind sharing the news.

Palelei had an unfortunate senior season as after five games suffered a season-ending knee injury (ACL and MCL) and he is now rehab with the injury. "Yes sir, it's going well," said the quiet Palelei.

He did confirm the visit to Stillwater this weekend.

"Yes sir, I'm going there on an official visit," he answered. "I'm at home right now. The weather is kind of warm over here (in Louisiana), but I know it is really cold in Stillwater."

He'll need plenty of warm clothes and cold weather gear but the show will be what he has his eye on as he makes the visit. Palelei finished his season before the injury with 752 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on 58 carries. He also caught 10 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns.

As a junior he carried 11 times for 828 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns with 20 receptions for 283 yards and three touchdowns.
