Spencer Declines To Discuss Georgia Job

Oklahoma State defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer has been listed by several sources as a rumored candidate for the University of Georgia defensive coordinator job. But he did not attend the AFCA Convention in Indianapolis, Ind., and was in his office in the West End Zone of Boone Pickens Stadium on Monday, where he was seen talking with Rob Glass.

The Georgia defensive coordinator job was vacated by Todd Grantham, who left for the same job at Louisville and a $1 million salary.

Spencer has been in Stillwater on Monday. He had a stellar first season as the Cowboys defensive coordinator in moving Oklahoma State into 14th in the nation in scoring defense at 20.0 points per game, 46th in total defense (378.5 yards), and fourth in the nation in turnover margin at +1.3.

The only rub on this situation, and for Oklahoma State fans this might be a good rub, is that Georgia has run a 3-4 defense under Grantham and has recruited for a 3-4 scheme. Spencer is a primary 4-3 scheme defensive coach.

Contacted earlier Monday, Spencer declined to discuss the Georgia position and possible interest from either side toward the other citing that he prefers to keep his job situation private.
