Young's Visit Was Important For Parents

The first time we were able to reach Kenny Young on his way home from his weekend official visit to Oklahoma State, the U.S. Army All-American linebacker from River Ridge (John Curtis), La., was unable to talk with us. We spoke later Sunday afternoon and Young seemed pleased with the visit, but wasn't all that revealing.

After all, he is scheduled to be one of the premier announced commitments on signing day during ESPN's blow-it-out national coverage of one of the most important days of the year in college football and certainly in the lives of the top football prospects in the nation.

"It went real well," said Young. "I had been there before so I had seen most of the campus and the facilities. I really knew what it was like, but this was the first time for my parents to see it. I think they liked it and thought it was good."

Young said the visit emphasized contact with he and his parents and the Cowboys coaches and the players.

"Spending time with the players and getting to know them was a big part of it for me," Young said.

As for his schedule, the 6-2, 225-pound Young will be busy cramming in two more visits before the recruiting period goes dead next Sunday. He is scheduled to visit LSU on Monday and then UCLA over the weekend. Young was at Texas A&M last weekend.

As previously mentioned, he confirmed that he will announce his college decision on signing day.
