You can never have enough players that really know how to win and Jenks power fullback and linebacker Trent Taber is simply a powerful football player who will do whatever it takes to win football games. He has been a huge contributor in the success of the Jenks program, including contributing nine touchdowns and loads of defense in this past season's state championship run. He is a teammate of Oklahoma State safety commitment Dylan Harding.
Talking to Taber tonight, he had this to say about his decision. "Coach (Jemal) Singleton approached me during the middle of the season and brought up the idea and we continued to have contact," Taber said. "I went up there (Oklahoma State) this past weekend and really liked it, and I'm really excited about it."
Taber, Hockett and Neph are all three outstanding students who very likely have earned scholarship money with their academic accomplishments. The NCAA permits walk-on athletes to use scholarship money that is awarded for academic accomplishments.
Finally, Ivan Thomas is another player that excels on defense but also pulls double duty and knows his way into the end zone. The 6-1, 293-pound defensive tackle was once committed to Texas Tech and also had an offer from Kansas State, but has decided to head to Stillwater.
Below are the capsules on those players.
