Cowboys Get Friday Off

STILLWATER -- The Oklahoma State Cowboys football squad got an early release for spring break on Friday. Head coach Mike Gundy changed the schedule from previous springs going from three practices a week (generally Monday, Wednesday and Friday) to four practices (generally Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday).

The Cowboys were scheduled for their fourth practice of the first week and their second practice in full pads prior to taking spring break.

However, three injuries at the thin and young linebacker position on Thursday caused Gundy and his staff to postpone the Friday practice, and move it to the end of the spring, likely Friday, April 11.

The move allows the Cowboys to get more accomplished and with the hope that they will have most of their linebackers available for practice at that time. As stated earlier, two of the injuries should be healed by the time the team returns from spring break. One injury to walk-on linebacker Dillon Rake could keep him out longer this spring.

Oklahoma State returns to classes on Monday, March 24, and the team is scheduled to practice Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday of that week.
