OSU's Kilmara Arrested; Dismissed From Team

The Oklahoma State wrestling program was still celebrating the accomplishments of national champions Chris Perry and Alex Dieringer, but the lousy aspect of college athletics showed up in the Cowboys camp after the NCAA Championships in Oklahoma City. According to a News 9 internet report, Eddie Klimara was arrested Saturday night on charges of possession of cocaine and public drunkenness.

Oklahoma State reports that Kilmara was dismissed from the Cowboys wrestling team for violation of team rules. Head coach John Smith nor anybody else at Oklahoma State had any further comment.

Police reports show Klimara was confronted by officers of the OKlahoma City Police Department at the Redneck Yacht Club at 4720 West I-40 Service Road. The 20-year-old Kilmara was in possession of a bag of white powder that tested positive for cocaine. He was also showing signs of being under the influence of alcohol.

According to the News 9 report, Klimara told police that he had not partied since October of last year when he began training for the just completed wrestling season.

Kilmara qualified for the NCAA Championships and won three matches and lost two, falling just short of earning All-American status.

Klimara defeated Dominic Parisi of Appalachian State 6-4, lost to Nick Megoludis of Penn State 6-0, won his first consolation match 4-1 over Evan Silver of Stanford, pinned Robert Deutsch of Rider in 3:35, and then was eliminated in the tournament in a 7-6 loss in tiebreaker 1 by Iowa's Cory Clark.
