Standout Running Back To Attend Orange Blitz

"Yes sir, I have some news," Scout 4-star standout running back Ronald Jones said when contacted Wednesday evening. "I will be in Stillwater this weekend."

Asked if he will be camping out at Lake Carl Blackwell, the 6-0, 185-pound speedster said, "No sir, I won't be camping out this time."

Jones was camping with family during a spring break visit to Stillwater where he took in a couple of Oklahoma State spring practices and spent time with Cowboy coaches, including head coach Mike Gundy and running backs coach Jemal Singleton.

Jones, who rushed for a monstrous 2,406 yards and 39 touchdowns last season at McKinney North and averaged 9.9 yards per carry, has a sister that attends Oklahoma State and is majoring in journalism.

Earlier this week Jones made news as reported by Scout when he paired his list of schools down from the many offers to these eight: Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Baylor, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, and USC.

Jones also said Baylor remains on the list despite an early commitment this week from running back JaMycal Hasty of Longview.

"No, that doesn't eliminate them," Jones said. "Everybody kind of knew he was going to do that and it doesn't hurt their chances."

Jones actually called it good news that he would be in Stillwater. He said he really liked what he saw of the Cowboys program on his last visit.

Jones also said the spring is going well and track is too. "District is next week and then my time is coming with spring football," Jones said in closing.
