Ex-Cowboy Heaney To Make Major League Debut

The Miami Marlins have called up former Oklahoma State and Putnam City High School left-handed pitching prospect Andrew Heaney from New Orleans of Triple A.

Heaney, who is 23 years old, is the top pitching prospect in the Marlins minor league organization.

This season in bouncing from Double-A Jacksonville to Triple-A New Orleans he has put together a 7-2 record with a 2.47 ERA. He also has an impressive 79 strikeouts to 15 walks ratio in 77 innings of work.

Heaney sent out a Twitter message that he was being called up and thanked all those that helped him and said, "This can't be real."

He will make his major league debut as a member of the Miami Marlins starting rotation on Thursday against the New York Mets in Miami.
