Make Larry Mahsetky The Hero

According to Triple Play Sports Radio and reported on The Afternoon Sports Drive program, the returning graduate hero that put Oklahoma State over the score needed for a reprieve of the APR penalties the NCAA announced in May is former Cowboys wide receiver Larry Mahsetky.

In a situation somewhat akin to a lottery. Mahsetky was the player an athletic department employee recognized on the recent graduation roles as a scholarship football player. There were other former players that have returned to gain their diploma and it really came down to which one would be the magic point that put the Cowboys over the margin and into the good with their APR score.

Mahsetky was originally a walk-on in 1991 coming out of Westmoore High School in Moore. The 6-1, 200-pound receiver was on the Oklahoma State football team during the last five years of the Pat Jones regime from 1991 to 1995.

Mahsetky lettered in 1994 and at some point was placed on scholarship. He received his degree from Oklahoma State in 2012.

Attempts to reach Mahsetky were unsuccessful but multiple reports indicate that The Oklahoman also learned of Mahsetky and plans a story.

We will continue to make efforts to reach Mahsetky to get his reaction to helping out his alma mater.
