Cowboys Report, Prepare To Practice Friday

STILLWATER - Reporting in three groups during the noon hour, the 2014 Oklahoma State Cowboys are on campus and preparing to start fall practice with an 8:20 a.m. start scheduled for the first practice on Friday.

After checking in and taking care of situations like insurance, parking on campus, ring size for championships, travel considerations for airline security, and other assorted incidentals; the team held its first meeting and heard from among other speakers the OSU Police Department.

There was a welcome back dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a welcome back team meeting with head coach Mike Gundy and the staff at 7:30. There will be some singing going on as players polish up on the OSU alma mater and the fight song, Ride Em Cowboys.

The team will also discuss goals for the season. Oklahoma State opens with top-ranked and defending national champion Florida State at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Aug. 30 on ABC television.

As far as we were able to learn all the expected parties reported for camp on the 105 list of players that can start. That list will also include some players that won't practice but will receive medical treatment.

We do understand that freshman defensive end Trey Carter reported. The newcomers not reporting were running back Devon Thomas, defensive tackle Joyan Williams, and junior college linebacker D'Nerius Antoine.
