Standout Receiver Excited To Visit OSU

Blinn Junior College wide receiver Dede Westbrook spent this fall catching passes from former Oklahoma State quarterback Jake Hubanek. He could wind up catching passes from present and future Cowboys quarterbacks as he will visit the OSU campus along with a number of other prospects for the Texas game on Nov. 15. It will be Westbrook's second official visit of five that he has scheduled.

"Oklahoma State, I'm real interested in them," the 6-1, 175-pound receiver said. "I like the school and the tradition and they actually offered me out of high school. Wide receivers coach Doug Meacham recruited me (when he was at OSU). They are high on my list."

Westbrook had an all-conference season at Blinn, catching 76 passes for 1,487 yards and 13 touchdowns. He averaged 19.6 yards a catch and 185.9 yards a game.

"Yes sir, I thought I played well this season, but I really wished we'd made the playoffs," Westbrook said of the season.

His other recruiting visits scheduled include Oklahoma on Nov. 22, Kansas State the next weekend, and then Texas Tech on Dec. 5. He already visited Utah on Sept. 26. His offers include a lot of other schools including Arizona State, Baylor, Purdue, and Washington State.

"That (Utah) visit went great," Westbrook added. "I really just went out there to see the school and the atmosphere. They got beat in the game 28-27 in the last seconds by Washington State."

Westbrook is a mid-term guy who will be able to sign on the junior college signing day on Dec. 17.
