Westbrook Says OSU Is Definitely Involved

One of the top junior college receivers in the nation visited Oklahoma State on an official visit this weekend and Blinn Junior College All-American candidate Dede Westbrook said the Cowboys are in the mix for being his next football destination.

"My visit went really, really well," the 6-1, 175-pound Westbrook said from the airport in Oklahoma City on Sunday afternoon. "I really like the player's personalities and how they all get along.

"The fans and the people there at Oklahoma State, if you play football they really look up to you. Football is important to them and it is a small town where everybody knows everybody. It is a lot like the small town where I'm from. My host was quarterback J.W. Walsh. Oklahoma State is most definitely (a school I could end up choosing)."

Westbrook earned top player honors on offense in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference this season catching 76 passes for 1,487 yards and 13 touchdowns. He averaged 19.6-yards a reception and 185.9-yards receiving a game this season. He is almost assured of being named an All-American.

Westbrook still has some recruiting visits to take. He took his first visit in September to Utah and saw the Utes play Washington State in Sale Lake City.

"I go to Oklahoma next week (11/22) and then Kansas State the next week (11/29), and then after that I visit Texas Tech (12/5)," Westbrook said detailing his recruiting itinerary.

He will make his decision in time to sign on the junior college signing day on Dec. 17.
