Brandon Pertile: His Coach’s Take

Brandon Pertile is one of six offensive linemen who will be new to the Oklahoma State football team in 2015. The transfer from Mesa Community College already is enrolled and participating in offseason workouts. With National Signing Day around the corner (Feb. 4), we visited with Mesa head coach Ryan Felker about Pertile and his future with the OSU Cowboys.

What are Brandon’s strengths as a football player?
Felker: His motor, intensity and leadership.

What are the areas that he’ll need to improve to play in the Big 12 Conference?
Felker: Probably just technique.

Is there one play or one game that you’ll always remember about Brandon?
Felker: If he was a quarterback, I’d tell you but that’s a tough one for a lineman.

Why do you think he chose Oklahoma State?
Felker: Because of coach (Bob) Connelly.

What type of person is Brandon away from football? Can you talk a little bit about his character traits?
Felker: He’s a real outgoing kid, well-liked by his teammates. The All-American-type of kid.

What will you remember the most about coaching him?
Felker: His common sense, (and) walking into my office to talk. He was our self-appointed player counsel. There was nothing off limits that he wouldn’t talk about.
