"I saw that too," Starkel said of the commitment online. "I meant to get in touch with them and let them now that wasn't right. I'm not committed and I'm not looking to commit right now. It will probably be at the end of the summertime, maybe in August that I will commit.
"So far Oklahoma State and Old Dominion are my scholarship offers," Starkel continued answering the question on schools. "Now I'm hearing from SMU and Pittsburgh, UCLA, and San Diego State. In fact, for spring break I'm going to go out and visit (unofficially) San Diego State and I will probably go by UCLA too."
The 6-3, 185-pound Starkel played in just seven games during the 2014 season, completing 106 of 160 passes for 1,609 yards with 19 touchdown passes and just 4 interceptions.
"I'm fine now and ready to go," he said coming off the shoulder injury.
Starkel has a busy schedule with that spring break visit and then on March 15 he said he would be at AT&T Stadium in Arlington for The Nike Opening Combine. He said he is also going to Atlanta for an event and then will be at the Nike Event in New Orleans on March 29.
"I'm going to be in Stillwater at Oklahoma State on April 1 for their spring practice," Starkel added. "I want to check it out and see how the coaches are on the field with the players in practice situations."
One of Starkel's former teammates in center Brad Lundblade, now at OSU. Lundblade actually played as a walk-on true freshman at center, almost unheard of on the offensive line in Division I football.
"It doesn't surprise me," Starkel said of his former teammate. "He is a really good player and one of the hardest workers ever."
Oklahoma State is actually looking to sign two quarterbacks in the 2016 clas. Starkel was a very early target of the Cowboys who have offered at least four quarterbacks so far.
